
Coyotes Recall Porter And Hoggan From San Antonio

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forwards Kevin Porter and Jeff Hoggan from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. In addition, forward Daniel Winnik has been placed on Injured Reserve.
Porter, 23, has appeared in two games with the Coyotes this season and currently leads San Antonio in scoring with 10-14-24 and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) in 28 games. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Porter recorded 5-5-10 and four PIM in 34 games for the Coyotes last season and collected 13-22-35 and 14 PIM in 42 games with San Antonio. Porter won the 2008 Hobey Baker Award as college hockey's top player as a senior at the University of Michigan after ranking 2nd in the nation in scoring by collecting 33-30-63 in 43 games while also serving as team captain during the 2007-08 campaign. Following the completion of the college season, Porter joined San Antonio for the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs and collected four assists in seven games. A native of Northville, Mich., Porter was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round (119th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.
Hoggan, 31, has recorded 6-10-16 and 23 PIM in 31 games with San Antonio this season. Last season, the 6-foot-1, 193-pound Hoggan appeared in four games with the Coyotes and registered an assist. He also collected 22-13-35 and 64 PIM in 60 games with the Rampage and led the team in goals. In 103 career NHL games with St. Louis, Boston and the Coyotes, Hoggan has collected 2-9-11 and 74 PIM. He has also played in 373 career AHL games with Houston, Worcester, Providence and San Antonio, recording 104-90-194 and 361 PIM. A native of Hope, British Columbia, Hoggan signed as a free agent with the Coyotes on July 15, 2008.
Winnik, 24, has recorded 2-10-12 and 10 PIM while appearing in each of the Coyotes' first 39 games this season and ranks 2nd on the team with a +10 rating. In 167 career NHL games with the Coyotes, Winnik has registered 16-29-45 and 98 PIM. The native of Toronto, Ontario was originally selected by the Coyotes in the 9th round (265th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.
