San Antonio, TX - The Texas Stars (20-10-2-2, 44 points) were defeated by the San Antonio Rampage (13-15-3-1, 30 points) 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in front of 4,177 fans at the AT&T Center. San Antonio goalie Josh Tordjman (6-9-0) stopped 44 shots, including 19 saves in the second period, for the Rampage's second win over Texas. Rampage winger Ryan Hollweg scored at 15:07 of the second period for the eventual game-winner, ending the Stars' four-game winning streak on the road. Texas center Warren Peters scored the lone goal for the Stars. Goalie Matt Climie (9-9-2) made 28 saves in the defeat. Texas will host the Syracuse Crunch on Tuesday, December 29th at 7:30 PM.
Texas took a 1-0 first-period lead during a five-on-three power-play opportunity at 12:47. Center Warren Peters received a pass in the slot from Perttu Lindgren. Peters fired a shot past San Antonio goalie Josh Tordjman, beating him on the glove side for his tenth goal of the year. The Rampage countered at 15:37, center Kyle Turris scored off a rebound in the Stars crease, tying the game 1-1
The Rampage scored the lone goal of the second period during a power play at 15:07. Left wing Ryan Hollweg tipped in a shot fired from the point by Mikkel Boedker, for a San Antonio 2-1 lead. The power-play goal was Hollweg's first goal of the season in 23 games played.
At 11:59 of the third period, Rampage winger Brett MacLean scored his 14th goal of the year. The power-play goal gave San Antonio a 3-1 lead. Just 2:44 later, center MacGregor Sharp capitalized off a Texas turnover, extending the San Antonio lead to 4-1 with his fourth goal of the year.
Texas will host the Syracuse Crunch at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 29th. Tuesday night will be HEB Night and Student Night. Fans who bring a non-perishable HEB-brand item to the arena will receive $5.00 off their ticket price. Also, students will receive a discount with the presentation of a college ID. The Stars travel to Manitoba for two road games. The first game is on Wednesday, Dec. 31st at 4:00 PM, and the next is on Saturday, Jan. 2nd at 7:30 PM. Texas returns to Cedar Park on January 6th for a game against the Houston Aeros at 7:30 PM.
