Adirondack Phantoms News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that the Flyers have recalled defenseman Danny Syvret under emergency conditions.
Syvret will be available to play for Philadelphia in Sunday's 5:00 pm game against the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. He does not have to pass through NHL Re-Entry Waivers due to his emergency recall status.
Syvret, 24, has two assists and eight penalty minutes in 13 games with the Flyers this season. In 11 appearances with Adirondack, he has eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) and four penalty minutes. He leads all Phantoms defensemen in points (8) and is tied for the lead on the Phantoms defense in assists (6), while both of his goals are game-winning-goals. In parts of five seasons of play in the AHL (2005-06 to 2009-10), Syvret has recorded 125 points (20 goals, 105 assists) and 145 penalty minutes in 269 games, including 65 points (14 goals, 51 assists) and 48 penalty minutes in 87 games with the Phantoms. A native of Millgrove, Ontario, Syvret was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the third round (81st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Flyers from Edmonton in exchange for Ryan Potulny on June 6, 2008 and recently signed a one-year contract with the Flyers on Aug. 11, 2009.
The Phantoms continue their four-game road trip down in Pennsylvania as they will face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Monday, December 28th at 7:05 pm at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. Adirondack's next home game is on Thursday, December 31st for a special 3:00 pm face off against the Albany River Rats in another Time Warner Cable Cup clash at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
