Coyotes Recall Goncharov from Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZOANA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Maxim Goncharov from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate.

The 6-foot-3, 216 pound Goncharov has played 16 games with the Pirates this season, recording 1-2-3 and 16 penalty minutes. Last season, the 22-year-old native of Moscow, Russia played 61 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), registering 6-9-15 and 65 penalty minutes.

Goncahrov was drafted by the Coyotes in the fifth round (123rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Goncharov will join the Coyotes in Washington today and will be available tonight when the Coyotes take on the Washington Capitals at 5:00 p.m. Phoenix time. The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports Arizona and XTRA 910 AM.
