Coyotes Re-Assign Schlemko To Rampage

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that the Phoenix Coyotes, the Rampage's parent club, have re-assigned defenseman David Schlemko to San Antonio from their Central Hockey League affiliate, Arizona Sundogs.

Schlemko, 20, has played one game with the Rampage this season, registering four penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot-1, 195-pound blueliner has also tallied 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists) and 24 PIM in 58 contests with the Sundogs. Schlemko is the leading rookie defenseman in scoring in the CHL and ranks 12th overall among rookies in scoring. He ranks 14th overall in scoring among defensemen.

The Edmonton, Alberta signed a three-year entry-level contract with Phoenix in July after he led all Western Hockey League (WHL) defensemen in assists (50) and tied for fifth in points (58) last season. Named to the WHL's Eastern Conference Second All-Star Team, Schlemko helped lead Medicine Hat to the WHL Championship and the Memorial Cup final where the team fell to Vancouver last season.

In 198 career WHL games, Schlemko registered 131 points (22 goals, 109 assists) and 145 penalty minutes (PIM) with Medicine Hat. Schlemko also collected 26 points (5g, 21a) and 39 PIM in 49 career playoff games.
