Coyotes Beat WhiteWings

EDINBURG, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes snapped their four game losing streak as they beat the Harlingen WhiteWings 6-4 Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Edinburg Coyotes welcomed back their third baseman MayoBanex Santana in his first start since he left to the Dominican Republic after his brother's death two weeks ago. Santana was little rusty going 0-for-3 but managed to get on base once.

Coyotes ace Eric Montoya pitched a great game once again striking out eight batters in eight innings of play. He gave up three runs off of eight hits and picked up his second win of the season. The save went to Julio Castro who picked up his fourth of the season which is the most in the ULB. Alex Gett got his third loss of the season for the WhiteWings.

The Harlingen WhiteWhings were able to strike first in the first inning after Brian Nichols singled to right field to bring in Argelio Nunez from third and David Fowler from second.

The Coyotes tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as Nick Aranda hit an two-run RBI single bringing in Eric Gonzalez from third and Amado German from second.

Coyotes took the lead to in the fifth after Daryl Jones hit a two-run homer over the left field wall bringing in Gary Roche. The WhiteWings tried to rally back in the top of the eighth when they scored on a RBI single from David Cardona to bring in Nunez from third.

But the Coyotes put the game away in the bottom of the frame when they scored two runs off of one hit. Aranda doubled to left to bring in Gonzalez from third and Jason Arrowood from second to seal Game 3 of the three-game series against their ULB foe.

Coyotes will hit the road to take on the Laredo Broncos in a three-game series. They will back in town on Monday to take on the San Angelo to start their three-game series with them.
