John Odom to Make First Start on Saturday

May 27, 2008-Laredo, TX- The Laredo Broncos of the United League announce that new pitcher John Odom will make his debut on Saturday May 31st.

Odom was acquired by the Broncos in a trade with Calgary for 10 bats. Since the deal was made there has been a whirlwind of media attention. The story has been seen on websites like espn.com, msn.com, and yahoo.com. Odom has been interviewed many times including a visit on ESPN's First Take on Monday May 26th.

Odom was drafted in the 2003 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the San Francisco Giants. In his minor league career he has a record of 9-8 with a 4.05 era. His best year came in 2006 when he played with Salem-Keizer. He went 6-3 in 15 starts with a 3.18 era. He struck out 51 batters while only walking 16.

Odom will make his first start as a Laredo Bronco on Saturday May 31st at 7:30 when the Broncos take on the Edinburg Coyotes at Veterans Field. For tickets to the game you can stop by the Laredo Broncos ticket office or you can call at 723-BASE (2273).

The Laredo Broncos finished their second season in 2007. The Broncos will play a 90 game season from May to September with 46 home games at Veterans Field.
