
Coyotes assign two-time Olympian to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 16, 2007) - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that the Phoenix Coyotes, the Rampage's parent club, have assigned center Patrick Fischer to the Rampage.
The 31-year-old, who represented Switzerland in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics, has recorded nine points (four goals, five assists) and 12 penalty minutes in 21 games with Phoenix this season. The native of Zug, Switzerland recently missed 13 games from Dec. 14 - Jan. 11 with a groin injury.
Prior to signing as a free agent with the Coyotes on May 5, 2006, Fischer played his entire 14-year career in the Swiss League, compiling 439 points (176 goals, 263 assists) in 534 games. Last season, Fischer ranked fourth in scoring (53 points) among all players in the Swiss League, and was fifth in goals (21) and fourth in assists (32).
The 5-foot-11, 194-pound forward has represented Switzerland in seven World Championships, in addition to the last two Winter Olympics.
