The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights earned their fourth straight win, beating the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1 on Tuesday at the Civic Auditorium. The Knights broke open a tie game with two third period goals to earn their 25th win of the year.

Hamilton grabbed the lead just 3:19 into the game when Andre Benoit fired a shot off the glove of Curtis McElhinney and into the net.

The Bulldogs maintained the 1-0 lead until the final minute of the second period when Justin Taylor tipped in a pass from Adam Pardy for his sixth goal of the year.

The Knights broke the tie at 6:44 of the third period. During a powerplay, Warren Peters whipped a wrist shot across the crease that hit the pad of goalie Jaroslav Halak and ricocheted into the net. Andrei Taratukhin and Pardy earned assists.

The Knights made it 3-1 when Taylor hurried to a loose puck in the Hamilton zone and worked it free for David Van der Gulik. He fed Eric Godard who banged home his fifth goal of the year.

McElhinney made several strong saves in the late going as Hamilton had a powerplay and pulled Halak for a six-on-four advantage. He finished with 19 saves in his team-record eighth consecutive appearance.

The Knights are now 25-13-3-0. They have drawn to within two points of the Chicago Wolves for first place in the West Division.
