Spokane Chiefs News Release

Spokane, Wash - The Spokane Chiefs hosted Kamloops for the second time in eight days on Sunday night in the Chiefs first shootout of the season. It was the Sturm Heating Clothing Drive benefitting Teen & Kid Closet. Fans were encouraged to donate clothing items at the main gates in exchange for a coupon to the Spokane Chiefs team store.

Kamloops opened the scoring at 15:40 in the first thanks to Andrew Thomson from Nathan Behm. The answer came from a rare source with Cameron Parr netting his second of the season and third of his career.

Parr hopped out of the penalty box and sped down the ice before Chase Bertholet fed it across goal for him to put away. Conner Roulette picked up yet another point with an assist on the play.

Emmitt Finnie scored on the power play to give Kamloops the 2-1 lead at 10:37 in the second. Levis and Minten recorded the assists.

Spokane tied up the game at 13:43 of the third with Spokane's second short handed goal of the season.

Catton knocked the puck loose in the attacking end, where Roulette picked it up and fired it home. It was Roulette's 16th of the season.

The game headed to overtime with chances at both ends. Dawson Cowan made a huge save late followed by a close chance for the Chiefs with just seconds left in OT.

In the shootout both Catton and Roulette came up empty, but Chiefs' veteran Chase Bertholet made no mistake on the third attempt.

Dawson Cowan sealed the deal, denying all three shootout attempts from the Blazers. He also stopped a penalty shot during the game and made 32 saves to earn first star of the night after 65 minutes of ice time.

Spokane dominated the third period with 15 shots on goal to just 2 for the Blazers. Spokane was 0/4 on the power play and 4/5 on the penalty kill, with a short handed goal from Roulette.

Spokane returns to action at the Spokane Arena on Wednesday, November 22nd versus Vancouver for another TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway at 7:05 PM. Doors open at 6 PM.
