Cougars Host Tigers for First Time Since 2019; Mega 50/50 Night

The Prince George Cougars look to make their weekend a good one to a great one tonight as they host the Medicine Hat Tigers for the first time since 2019. Tonight marks the Cougars' first Mega 50/50 jackpot game with a near sellout crowd expected.

The Prince George Cougars are coming off a dominant 7-1 victory on Saturday night against the Kamloops Blazers at the CN Centre. Zac Funk led the way offensively for the Cats, owning five points and his second hat-trick of the season. The Cougar 20-year-old was also named the games first star. "Having the week to practice and dial some things in was really important," Funk said in the post-game show last night. "We got guys up and down our lineup who can score. With team success, the guys are finding their ways and it's really good to see."

The Medicine Hat Tigers are coming off a 4-0 win on Friday night in Kamloops against the Blazers at the Sandman Centre. Tonight's game marks the final stop on the BC trip for the Tigers. The visitors currently sport a 7-3-1-0 record.

EIGHT IS GREAT:

The Prince George Cougars were named to Week 3 of the CHL's Top 10 rankings. The Cats slotted in at the 8 seed in the CHL. The Prince George Cougars currently possess an 8-3 record and sit second in the Western Conference behind the #1 team in the CHL in the Portland Winterhawks.

A FUNKY START:

Cougar forward and 20-year-old Zac Funk has been firing on all cylinders, 11 games into the 2023-2024 regular season. Funk leads the league in scoring with 26 points in 1` games (13-13-26). Entering tonight's contest against the Medicine Hat Tigers, Funk has points in six straight games, consisting of nine goals and seven assists. Funk also leads the Western Hockey League in shots on goal (68) and power-play goals (9).

CZECH IT OUT:

No skater in the Western Hockey League has more assists than forward Ondrej Becher. In his second WHL season, the Ostrava, CZE product has dominated in his first eight games, owning 24 points (7-17-24). Becher was selected 16th overall by Prince George in the 2022 CHL Import Draft. In 71 WHL games in his career, Becher owns 62 points (23-39-62).

THE SUPER ROOKIE:

Cougars 17-year-old rookie forward continues to shine in the 2023-2024 season. Parascak, a 4th round selection by PG in 2021, leads all WHL skaters in goals (13) and leads all rookie skaters in goals, points (22), plus-minus (15), and shots on goal (52).
