
Cougars Fall Short Against Spokane Chiefs In 4-3 Decision

SPOKANE, WA - The Prince George Cougars received goals from three different players, however, it proved to not be enough as they dropped a 4-3 decision to the Spokane Chiefs, Friday in Spokane to begin their five-game road trip.
The game ignited with intensity as the Chiefs took an early lead just over a minute into the match, with Berkly Catton notching his 29th goal of the season at 1:09. The tempo escalated further at 3:31 as Chase Pauls and Ty Cheveldayoff engaged in a spirited fight, igniting the crowd with excitement. However, the Cougars swiftly responded, equalizing the score at one as Riley Heidt capitalized on an odd-man rush, courtesy of a pass from Borya Valis at the 10-minute mark.
Spokane reclaimed the lead as Catton struck again, netting his 30th goal of the season at 16:41, ending the opening stanza with the Chiefs in the lead. The Cougars rallied in the second period, showcasing improved chances and determination. Terik Parascak levelled the score at two with a blistering wrist shot from the left circle, assisted by an Ondrej Becher face-off win at 5:37.
However, Spokane responded on the power-play, with Rasmus Ekström firing a precision shot past Ty Young from the right circle at 11:47. Despite the Cougars outshooting Spokane 10-8 in the second frame, they trailed heading into the final period. The Chiefs extended their lead to two goals early in the third period, with Shea Van Olm scoring his first goal as a Chief at 1:33. Prince George battled back, narrowing the gap to one goal at 4:52, but their efforts fell short.
In the final period, the Chiefs dominated play, outshooting Prince George 20-7, ultimately securing the victory with a 4-3 score.
