
Cougars Close US Trip with Shutout Loss

EVERETT, WA- The Prince George Cougars (18-23-2-1) ended their road trip with a 6-0 loss to the Everett Silvertips (32-7-2-2) at Angel of the Winds Arena on Saturday night.
Goaltender Tyler Brennan was busy, as he made a season-high 56 saves in the Cougars' crease. Saturday was just the second time this season the Cougars have been shutout.
Prince George finished the six-game U.S. road trip with a 1-4-1-0 record and are now 3-9-2-0 against the U.S. Division.
FIRST PERIOD
Everett scored two goals in each of the three periods on Saturday. Jackson Berezowski opened the scoring at 4:55, as he scored his 30th to put the Silvertips up 1-0. Michal Gut added to Everett's lead at 18:28. The Silvertips outshot Prince George 20-10 in the first period.
SECOND PERIOD
Matthew Ng put the Silvertips up 3-0 at 6:31 of the middle frame. The rookie scored from in close after a nice dish from Roan Woodward. Prince George challenged the goal for an offside, but the goal stood after video review. Niko Huuhtanen made it 4-0 at 9:37 after he hammered the puck from the top of the crease. The Cougars were outshot 19-8 in the second.
THIRD PERIOD
Ronan Seeley and Austin Roest finished off the scoring in the third period for Everett. Seeley made it 5-0 at 4:18 and Roest scored the Silvertips' sixth goal at 19:21. The 'Tips outshot the Cougars 23-6 in the final frame.
NOTES
Prince George lost all four (0-3-1-0) games in the season series to Everett. The 62 shots against on Saturday is a new season high. The previous high for shots against this season was 59, set on December 1st in Portland. Defencemen Jonas Brøndberg, Aiden Reeves, and forwards Cayden Glover and Fischer O'Brien did not play.
