Lake Country DockHounds News Release
GENEVA, ILL. - The Kane County Cougars smack seven home runs in their 23-5 victory over the Lake Country DockHounds Friday evening.
Lake Country would go with the newly-acquired Angel Ventura on the hill. The game seemed like it would be a close one, but like baseball always is, it was unpredictable.
In true Jake Snider fashion, he drew a walk in the second inning and was aggressive on the basepaths. With Wilfredo Gimenez in the batter's box, Snider stole second base. He later scored on Zion Pettigrew's double.
The unpredictability began in the Cougars' half of the third inning when Alexis Pantoja towered a 2-run blast over the outfield wall. But that wasn't all... Steve Lombardozzi, Cornelius Randolph, and smoked back-to-back-to-back home runs to push the Cougars ahead 5-1.
In the fourth, Galli Cribbs Jr. advanced to second on an error by DockHounds second baseman Pettigrew and later scored off a double by Ernie De La Trinidad. De La Trinidad crossed home plate on a wild pitch.
The top of the sixth would favor Lake Country as Tristen Carranza drove in two runs on a double. On the contrary, the next half inning favored Kane County as Randolph had an RBI single. Jimmy Kerrigan smoked a two-run homer to make it 10-3.
In the seventh inning, Josh Rolette had a solo shot to extend the lead, making the score 11-3 Kane County.
The Cougars were relentless in the eighth, as they scored 12 runs. The big play of the inning was a grand slam by Dylan Busby.
Lake Country wouldn't go down without a fight, as they would plate two in the top of the ninth. The DockHounds fell 23-5.
The DockHounds look to bounce back Saturday night against the Cougars. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. You can catch the game live on AAbaseball.tv.
