Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Corey Julks padded his Sugar Land Space Cowboys team-leading pace in home runs Friday night at Constellation Field.

Julks powered his 18th home run of the season as the Space Cowboys went on to lose 4-2 to the Reno Aces. Julks is tied for third in the Pacific Coast League with his 18 home runs and is tied for fourth with 38 extra-base hits.

The solo shot from Julks cut what was then a 4-1 lead for Reno in the sixth inning.

The Space Cowboys made it a two-run deficit in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk from Scott Manea before Reno locked down the win.

Former Houston Astros prospect Seth Beer opened the scoring with a solo home run to left in the second. Beer finished 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI.

Enmanuel Valdez went 3-for-5 with three doubles, matching the Space Cowboys' season high. Since being assigned to the Space Cowboys from Double A Corpus Christi on June 8, Valdez is sixth in the PCL with a .603 slugging percentage.

Layne Henderson, Jon Olczak and Ronel Blanco combined for five scoreless innings of relief, allowing just two hits to go with four strikeouts and no walks.

The Space Cowboys and Reno return to Constellation Field at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, with JP France set to start against Reno lefty Tommy Henry.
