(Trenton, NJ) - Ben Copeland snapped a six-inning tie with a bases-clearing triple and T.J. House pitched seven strong innings as the Akron Aeros defeated the Trenton Thunder, 4-2, in front of 3,082 fans Wednesday night at Waterfront Park. Cody Johnson hit his league-leading 11th home run of the season for Trenton, but Akron (28-15) improved the Eastern League's best record and has taken two of the first three in the series.

After Johnson's fourth-inning centerfield blast tied the score at 1, Akron's Tim Fedroff led off the sixth against Mikey O'Brien (1-1) with his third hit of the night. Ryan Rohlinger then blooped a single to left center and Adam Abraham sacrificed the runners to second and third with one out.

With a base open, O'Brien then pitched around clean-up batter Chun Chen and walked him to load the bases for Copeland, who lined a triple into the right-center field gap to score all three runners. It was his third, fourth and fifth RBIs of the series.

House (3-1) pitched seven innings, allowing one run on six hits with four strikeouts. Kevin Mahoney brought Trenton within 4-2 with a two-out RBI single in the eighth, but Preston Guilmet tossed a perfect ninth inning to record his fifth save of the season.

The Thunder and Aeros complete the four-game series on Thursday at 7:05 pm, with right-hander Adam Miller (0-0) slated to make his first home start for the Thunder and be opposed by Aeros' lefty Giovanni Soto (4-2).
