
Conroy paces Albuquerque past Idaho

BOISE, Idaho, January 21, 2009 - Will Conroy posted 29 points and seven assists to help Albuquerque earn a 105-98 victory over the Idaho Stampede Wednesday night at Qwest Arena in Boise. The win gives the Thunderbirds their eighth win in nine games and hand the Stampede their first loss at home on the season.
"This is the biggest win of the season for us so far," Albuquerque Head Coach John Coffino said. "This is a really tough place to come into and get a win."
Albuquerque managed to go on a 13-4 run to end the third quarter, giving them an 81-70 advantage heading into the final quarter. With 5:32 remaining in the game, Albuquerque led 96-81 before Idaho battled back, going on an 11-2 run to close the gap to four points, with 1:45 remaining. The Thunderbirds managed to hang on for the win in the final minute.
Coby Karl scored a team-high 28 points for the Stampede. Luke Jackson added 20 points and eight assists, while Lance Allred dropped in eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Idaho will face-off against the Colorado 14ers on Friday night. Albuquerque returns home to go up against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Friday.
