Altoona Curve News Release

In a roster move announced Tuesday afternoon, Altoona Curve LHP Mike Connolly has been promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis and RHP Eddie Candelario has been added to the Curve roster from rookie-level Bradenton. Connolly was scheduled to start Tuesday's series opener at Portland, but will be replaced on the mound by Candelario.

The 23-year old Connolly, who has spent each of the last three seasons with Altoona, posted a 5-6 record and 3.32 ERA in 15 starts for the Curve this season. The left-hander was the Pirates' 19th round selection in the 2000 June draft out of Oneonta (NY) High School. Connolly will fill the roster spot at Indianapolis vacated by OF Nate McLouth, who was called up by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.

Candelario joins the Curve from rookie-level Bradenton, where he appeared in one game after spending the first 2 ½ month of the season in Pirates' extended spring training. The 27-year old native of the Dominican Republic spent a portion of the 2004 season with Altoona, going 0-1 with two saves and a 4.81 ERA in 21 relief appearances.
