Conine First To 20 Homers In 11-5 Win Over Cubs

SOUTH BEND, IN - Griffin Conine is the first player in Minor League Baseball to hit 20 home runs. He hit the milestone Saturday night with a two-run homer to left field in the Beloit Snappers' (28-31) 11-5 drubbing of the South Bend Cubs (25-32).

South Bend scored in the first inning with a two-run home run from Yonathan Perlaza, but Beloit came back. Bubba Hollins drove in a run in the second to cut the deficit to 2-1. Conine hit his Minor League-leading 20th home run to give the Snappers a 3-2 lead in the third.

The Cubs took the lead back with a two-run home run from Ryan Reynolds in the bottom of the third. The Snappers scored eight unanswered runs and won the game 11-5.

Beloit's Top Performers: Conine was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Hollins had a three-hit day, driving in four. Troy Johnston was 2-for-3 with three walks.

The Snappers face the South Bend Cubs again on Sunday. Beloit is back at Pohlman Field for the final time on July 13-18th against the Quad Cities River Bandits before moving into ABC Supply Stadium downtown beginning August 3.
