
Condors win 9th straight, 2-1 over Salmon Kings

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (38-25-2-1, 79pts) are on their longest winning streak in eight years, picking up their ninth consecutive victory with a 2-1 triumph over the Victoria Salmon Kings (29-33-2-2, 62pts) in front of 3,729 fans at Rabobank Arena Wednesday night. The win puts the Condors back in first place in the Pacific Division, and second place in the Western Conference.
F Jean-Marc Beaudoin brought the Condors fans to their feet less than five minutes into the opening frame. Beaudoin blasted a slap shot over the shoulder of Victoria G David Shantz to boost the Condors to a 1-0 lead. The Salmon Kings evened up the score before the end of the period, as LW Chad Painchaud finished off a broken play to end the period with the game tied 1-1.
RW Stephane Goulet snapped the tie with just 19 seconds left in the middle frame.F Andrew Ianiero tossed a shot on goal and Goulet batted a bouncing puck over Shantz to grant the Condors a 2-1 lead. G Brian Stewart stopped all 19 shots he faced in the period.
The Condors held on defensively in the third period, killing off three penalties to keep the Salmon Kings off the board. G Brian Stewart stopped 33 shots in the final two periods to pick up his eighth straight win and run his record with the Condors to 15-4-0.
Notes:
LW Guillaume Lefebvre had his eight-game point streak come to an end. He had 4g-7a during the stretch... The Condors penalty kill was perfect for the fifth straight game and ninth time in the last 10 (92.5%)... RW Stephane Goulet picked up his second game winner in the last three contests...
