Alaska Aces News Release

Alaska Aces defenseman Russ Sinkewich has been loaned to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League, Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Wednesday. Sinkewich becomes the second Aces player loaned to Abbotsford in the last week, joining forward Tyler Ruegsegger, who joined the Heat on Friday. The first-place Aces return home for three games this weekend against the Utah Grizzlies. Sinkewich, 24, is a steady, stay-at-home defenseman who has played in 40 games this year for Alaska. On Tuesday night he produced his second goal of the season in an Alaska 3-2 win at Las Vegas. He has totaled two goals, six assists, eight points, and 46 PIM. Earlier this month, he returned from a lengthy absence that forced him to miss 23 games on the IR. Sinkewich is a 6'4", 215 lbs. native of Westlake, OH. The Heat will be the third AHL team he plays for in his career. As a rookie in 2008-2009, he played five games each for both Lake Erie and Milwaukee. Prior to turning pro, Sinkewich played four seasons of collegiate hockey at Bowling Green State University. He is the ninth Aces player called up to the AHL this season, joining Daryl Boyle, Chad Anderson, Steve Ward, Ethan Cox, Alex Petizian, Gerald Coleman, Chris Langkow, and Tyler Ruegsegger.

In additional Aces news, the club released forward Jordan Kremyr from his ATO. Kremyr joined the Aces in Las Vegas from Providence College, and made his professional debut last Friday.
