Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors signed D Jay Langager (long-AW-ger) today, as announced by Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Langager, 27, finished the 2006-07 campaign with the Condors, recording one assist in four games during the regular season, and also suiting up for seven post-season contests, leading the team with a +6 during the playoffs.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound native of Loreburn, Saskatchewan also recorded 34 points (5g-29a) in 33 games with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns last season. He earned the top player and best defenseman honors in Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's hockey in 2006-07. This season, Langager has served as an assistant coach with the Pronghorns.
"Jay is certainly what the doctor ordered right now," said Raymond. "He is a very good defenseman; many of the guys on the team are familiar with him because he was with us last season. He is a good leader and we need his presence on the blueline."
After completing his junior hockey career in the Western Hockey League with Swift Current, Langager played three professional seasons, primarily in the ECHL with Greenville, Johnstown and Bakersfield. He recorded 13g-63a-76pts with 141 PIM in 193 games. He also skated in 14 American Hockey League games with Chicago and Saint John.
