Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors announced today the signing of forward Nick Economakos.
Economakos, 24, is currently in his second season as a professional. The Lockport, Illinois native made his pro debut last season in the ECHL with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, where he suited up for ten games.
Economakos played college hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The 6-foot 190-pound forward played in 124 games at RPI and scored 30 goals and 49 assists during his time with the Engineers. Economakos has three ECAC playoff goals to his credit, and was named one of Rensselaer's co- captains for the 2004-05 season. As a senior, Economakos ranked second on his team in goals (11) and power-play goals (8). Economakos spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career as a teammate of current Condor defenseman Scott Basiuk.
"We got Nick because he was a captain and a standout at RPI and averaged 30 points a year in college," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "He's a smart hockey player and a good skater. Having another American-born player on our roster is also a big plus for us."
Other notes: The Condors also announced the release of C/LW Michel Massie from the team.
