Titans edge Stingrays, 3-2

TRENTON, NJ (November 16, 2005) - The Trenton Titans were able tally two goals on the power play to help themselves to a 3-2 victory over the South Carolina Stingrays in front of 3,011 at Sovereign Bank Arena.

Down 1-0 in the second period, the Titans tied the score when Scott Bertoli found a loose puck in the slot and lifted it over the right shoulder of Maxime Daigneault. Bertoli's goal scored at 13:58 was his first of the season.

Trenton would then take the lead on the power play in the third period when Mathieu Brunelle fired a low wrist shot on net and Ned Havern knocked the rebound home at 9:07.

The Stingrays answered back 2:37 later on the man advantage as JF David rifled a one-timer past the glove of Martin Houle to knot the score 2-2.

The Titans used the power play again to take the lead as Rosario Ruggeri picked up the rebound from Stephen Wood's point shot and fired it into the top corner with just 4:13 remaining in regulation to complete the scoring for both teams.

Scoreless in their last five games on the man advantage, the Titans went 2-for-5 on the power play, while killing off 4-of-6 .

The Titans have now won three in a row at home as Houle made 29 saves to raise his record to 4-3-0. Daigneault falls to 2-5-3 having stopped 27-of-29

Trenton finishes a short week of play with a game against the Reading Royals on Friday, November 18 at 7:30pm. It's Red Hot Friday at Sovereign Bank Arena as the first 2,000 fans will receive Titans Kelly Cup Championship pucks courtesy of McIntosh Inn.
