San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls and the San Diego Food Bank will be holding a holiday food drive at the Nov. 23 games against the Victoria Salmon Kings. Any fan that donates a non-perishable food item will receive a 2-for-1 voucher, good for the Gulls home game on either Nov. 25 or Nov. 27.

San Diego Food Bank volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations at all entrances before the game, which is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. All donations collected will benefit the San Diego Food Bank.

"The San Diego Food Bank distributes enough food for more than 10 million meals in San Diego County each year," said Darrell Watkins, acting general manager of the San Diego Food Bank. "With support from the San Diego Gulls and their fans, we can help make the holiday season brighter for many San Diego County families."

Fans are encouraged to bring all types of non-perishable food items to the game. The most needed items are canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, soup, cereal and non-food items such as toothpaste and deodorant.

"The Gulls are excited to partner with the San Diego Food Bank and host our first food drive," said Gulls Chief Operating Officer Tera Black. "Our fans are extremely generous and their support will make a huge difference in the Food Bank's ability to help thousands during the holiday and throughout the New Year."
