Ice Pilots lose at Gwinnett 7-4

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots lost to the Gwinnett Gladiators 7-4 on Tuesday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

The Gladiators scored the first goal of the game on the power play at the 15:09 mark of the opening period when Guillaume Desbiens put the puck past goalie Todd Ford on a shot from between the circles. Ryan Fultz and Jeff Campbell picked up the assists.

Gwinnett would score three straight goals in the second period to take a 4-0 lead. Scott Mifsud scored for the Gladiators at the 8:51 mark and at the 10:48 mark Guillame Desbiens would score his second of the game tipping in a shot that went over the shoulder of goalie Todd Ford. The Gladiators would get a shorthanded goal by Pascal Pelletier at 14:56.

The Ice Pilots would get on the scoreboard on a power ! play goal by Luke Fulghum at the 15:14 mark of the second period on a hard shot from the left wing circle. Matt Turek of the Ice Pilots made it a 4-2 contest sneaking the puck on the short side of Gwinnett goalie Sean Fields on a nice pass from Corey Neilson from behind the Gladiators net with 3:55 left in the second period.

Gwinnett would get two goals by Danny Eberly in the second period and a goal by Scott Mifsud in the third period for his second on the night to take a 7-2 lead. Brendan Cook and Luke Fulghum (shorthanded) would score goals in the final four minutes of the third period.

Todd Ford was the losing goalie and Sean Fields picked up the win in goal for Gwinnett. The Gladiators had 51 shots compared to the Ice Pilots 25. Gwinnett went 3-9 on the power play while the Ice Pilots were 1-4. The Ice Pilots dropped their record to 2-6-1 for 5 points and Gwinnett improved their record to 6-1-1 for 13 points.

The Ice Pilots next game is at home on Sunday, Novembe! r 20 vs. Augusta at 4:05 p.m. The Stanley Cup will be on display to he lp in Hurricane Relief Efforts. Fans will be able to get their picture taken with the Stanley Cup.
