
Condors Plan Huge Weekend

Bakersfield Condors News Release
Upcoming week of September 2nd - September 8th:
· Tuesday, September 3rd - "The Truth on Sports with Brian Long" on KGEO 1230 AM will host lunch with Long, Condors winger Jeff Goldie, the voice of the Condors, Kevin Bartl, and one lucky winner today at Bubba's Bodacious BBQ. The winner will be picked up in a limousine and escorted to Bubba's Bodacious BBQ located at 3217 Niles Road. Tune into "The Truth on Sports" weekdays from 4:00 pm - 5:00pm on KGEO AM 1230 for your chance to win upcoming lunches with your favorite Condors players.
· Tuesday, September 3rd - Cal, the baby Condor, and Condors staff will be kicking off the "One for the Community" Entertainment Book drive at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School at 9:30 am. Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is located at 124 Columbus Street.
· Friday, September 6th - Cal, the baby Condor, and Condors staff will be at Standard Elementary School kicking off the "One for the Community" Entertainment Book drive. Standard Elementary School is located at 115 East Minner Avenue.
· Friday, September 6th - The Bakersfield Condors will be joining The Hometown Heroes PAL Benefit Dinner and Sports Auction at the Seven Oaks Country Club starting at 6:30. The Condors PA Announcer Chris Peace will serve as master of ceremonies for the auction with all proceeds to benefit the Bakersfield Police Activities League and the PAL Youth Center. Condors items up for bid include a game worn, autographed Chris Felix jersey, a Condors signed hockey stick, tickets to upcoming Condor games and a night as a guest announcer with Chris Peace during a regular season game. Seven Oaks Country Club is located at 2000 Grand Lakes Avenue.
· Saturday, September 7th - The Bakersfield Condors will be heading to Kern Adult Literacy Council as they take part in the United Way Day of Caring. The day starts with breakfast at Stramler Park at 7:30 am and then it's off to the Kern Adult Literacy Council to help with general maintenance. Stramler Park is located at 3805 Chester Avenue and the Kern Adult Literacy Council is located at 331 18th Street.
· Saturday, September 7th - Condors goalie Kevin St. Peirre and Captain Paul Willett will be attending Brews in the Village. Cal, the baby Condor, and Condors staff will be joining them at Pioneer Village at the Kern County Museum located at 3801 Chester Avenue from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Brews in the Village is a annual fundraiser for Children's Advocates Resource Endowment.
Week in Review, August 19th - August 25th:
· Thursday, August 29th - The Condors "Care-a-Van" spent the day in Lake Isabella. Condors Captain Paul Willett, Cal, the baby Condor, and Condors staff joined the Kern Valley Exchange Club for lunch at Paradise Cove. Following lunch the Condors headed to the Kern Valley Youth Center where Paul Willett instructed some young Condors hopefuls with the Condors Slapshot.
Condors Droppings:
· Mark your calendars. The Condors annual Open House & Family Day at Centennial Garden will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Plenty of events are on tap for the whole family. The Open House is also the first day that Season Tickets are available for pick-up by season ticket holders. The first public skate of the year is also planned from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Cost of the skate is $7.00 and $3.00 for skate rental, or bring your own skates.
· Sign up now for the fifth annual Condors Invitational Charity Golf Tournament presented by 1410 AM KERN, Baldwin-Georgenton Insurance Agency, and Chicago Title Company to benefit the Alliance Against Family Violence. The tournament will be held on Monday, September 30th at Rio Bravo Country Club. For more information contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825).
· The Condors are looking for a few good men, and women to help with the painting of the Centennial Garden Ice for the 2002-2003 season. The ice will be going in the week of September 9 with painting to be completed by Wednesday, September 11.
