Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, CA -- The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League today announced the signing of veteran defenseman Guy Dupuis and rookie winger Denis Ladouceur. The Condors now have 19 players under contract for the rapidly approaching season.

Dupuis, 32, has nearly 800 career professional games under his belt, having played the last two seasons in the German Elite League (DEL). Prior to that, the Moncton, New Brunswick native skated for 10 seasons exclusively in the International and American Hockey Leagues. In 115 games in the DEL, Dupuis scored 10 goals and added 28 assists with 132 penalty minutes.

Originally drafted in the 3rd round of the 1988 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings, Dupuis has never played below the ‘AAA' level. He has won two championships since turning pro in the 1990-91 campaign. In 1992, he was a member of the Calder Cup Champion Adirondack Red Wings in the AHL. The following season with the Fort Wayne Komets, he won the IHL's Turner Cup when he was a teammate of Paul Willett.

Ladouceur, 25, is making his debut in the pro ranks after finishing his collegiate career with Cornell University. A native of Prince George, British Columbia, Ladouceur played four seasons with the Big Red, and becomes the eighth rookie and 10th developmental player signed by the Condors.

"Guy is an experienced vet with an offensive touch," said Condors Head Coach Paul Kelly. "He's played at a high level his entire career, and played in a strong league in the DEL the past two seasons. We expect him to be our leader on the blueline. With Ladouceur, we have another rookie player, hungry to make an impact. Our team has a lot of youth this season, and we' ll rely heavily on the contributions of our young players and the leadership of our veterans."

The 2002-03 season opener is 39 days away with the Bakersfield Condors hosting the reigning Taylor Cup Champion Fresno Falcons at Centennial Garden on Saturday, October 12th. Group outings and season tickets are now available, with packages starting as low as $42.
