Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Ryan Munce made 36 saves on 39 shots and stopped all five shootout attempts as the Bakersfield Condors defeated the Fresno Falcons 4-3 in front of 8,815 fans for Condors annual Teddy Bear Toss.

The Condors initiated the Teddy Bear Toss by scoring their first goal with 5:41 remaining in the first period. Andrew Ianiero worked a pass along the boards to Nate Metcalf, who wrested a shot through traffic and under the left pad of Fresno goaltender Mike Brown to but Bakersfield up 1-0.

Following a 13-minute delay to clear the ice of the stuffed animals, Metcalf had a hand in doubling the lead as he sent a slapshot toward the net. Brown made the initial save, but Bolduc crashed and carried the puck through Brown's five-hole to extend the Condors lead to 2-0 entering the second period.

Kevin St. Jacques widened the lead to three after taking a 120-foot three-line pass from Reagan Leslie and deking twice to play the puck under Brown's left leg pad, making it 3-0 Condors 7:25 into the second period.

The Falcons began their charge back just 37 seconds later when Rob McFeeters dashed to the net, sent it towards Ryan Munce on a backhand, and freed up the rebound for John Wroblewski to tap it in, putting Fresno on the board and cutting the Condors lead to 3-1.

Almost as quickly, the Falcons made it 3-2 on a goal by JF Plourde, just under the right arm of Munce on an outlet pass from Matt O'Dette with 10:52 left in the second.

The tying goal came with 2:03 remaining in the period, as a wrist shot by P.O. Beaulieu ricoched off the goalpost and off the shoulder of Anders Olsson past the goal line to tie the game at 3-3.

The game remained deadlocked through the third period and the overtime period, sending the teams to a shootout. Joel Irving scored the lone shootout goal, pressing the puck past the left skate of Brown and slowly across the goal line. Ryan Munce stopped all 5 shots he faced, including the final attempt by Fresno's Peter Fregoe to clinch the victory and hand the Falcons their first loss to a Pacific Division team.

Other notes: The announced crowd of 8,815 was the third-highest attended game in Condors history. With his goal in the second period, Kevin St. Jacques extended his goal-scoring streak to three games. He has scored at least a point in eight of his last nine games. Nate Metcalf recorded his second multiple- point game of the season with a goal and an assist against Fresno.

The Condors return to the ice on Wednesday, November 30th when they host the Johnstown Chiefs at the Rabobank Arena. Fans who donate a coat or jacket for the Project Warm Families Coat Collection will receive a $1 terrace ticket. All fans in attendance will receive a Condors "Old Time Hockey" poster, featuring several members of the team dressed as characters from the movie "Slap Shot". The Stanley Cup will be making its first-ever visit to Bakersfield and will be on display before and during the game.
