Titans hold on for 3-2 win over Nailers

WHEELING, WV (November 27, 2005) - It was two unlikely heroes that helped the Trenton Titans to a 3-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers in front of 2,124 at WesBanco Arena on Sunday night.

In first professional start, Dustin Traylen made 31 saves for his first win of the season and defenseman Vince Williams provided the game-winning goal on his first marker of the year.

The Titans were able to get on the board first for the second night in a row when Aaron Gill fed Ned Havern, who roofed a wrister from the high slot at 8:12 of the first.

In the middle period period, Trenton used just their second power play goal on the road to extend their lead to 2-0. With Luis Tremblay in the box for the Nailers, Scott Bertoli fired a pass from behind the net to a streaking Mathieu Brunelle who knocked it past Andy Franck at 7:34.

Wheeling finally got one past Traylen on Tremblay's goal at 17:09 of the second period, but the Titans answered back 1:47 later when Williams beat a screened Franck to the glove side fmaking the score 3-1.

The Nailers pulled within one early in the third period on Brendan Hodge's power play tally at 5:16, but would get no closer as the Titans held on for the victory.

Franck suffered just his second loss of the year as he made 15-of-17 saves. Trenton finished 1-for-4 on the man advantage and 6-of-7 on the penalty kill.
