Bakersfield Condors News Release


Upcoming week of September 9th - September 15th:

· Tuesday, September 10th - "The Truth on Sports with Brian Long" on KGEO 1230 AM will host lunch with Long, Condors winger Paul Rosebush, and one lucky winner at Bubba's Bodacious BBQ. The winner will be picked up in a limousine and escorted to Bubba's Bodacious BBQ located at 3217 Niles Road. Tune in to "The Truth on Sports" weekdays from 4:00 pm - 5:00pm on KGEO AM 1230 for your chance to win upcoming lunches with your favorite Condors players.

· Thursday, September 12th - Come to Centennial Garden to book your group outings for the 2002 - 2003 season as the Condors host Group Selection Night from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Head Coach Paul Kelly and select Condors players will be on hand to meet group leaders and discuss the upcoming season.

· Friday, September 13th - Cal, the baby Condor, the Condors slapshot, and Condors staff will be at the City of Bakersfield's Safety Picnic and Wellness Fair at Yokuts Park from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. Yokuts Park is located off of Truxtun Avenue at 4200 Empire Drive.

· Saturday, September 14th - Join the Bakersfield Condors at the Grand Opening of the new Auto Crafters showroom from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Auto Crafters is located 5101 White Lane.

· Saturday, September 14th – The Condors Slapshot, Cal, the baby Condor, and Condors staff will be at All Saints Church for their annual fall picnic from 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm. All Saints Church is located at 3200 Gosford Road.

· Sunday, September 15th – Join Cal, the baby condor, Condors staff, and the Condors Slapshot at Spanish Radio's "Viva Mexico" at the Kern County Fairgrounds from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. The Kern County Fairgrounds are located at 1142 South P Street.

Week in Review September 3rd - September 8th:

· Friday, September 6th - The Condors Director of Creative Services Jonathan Daillak was named to the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Kern where he will serve on the council's Exhibits committee for the next two years.

· Saturday, September 7th – Condors staff members John Ayre, Chris Freshour, Greg May and Deric Voelker showed off their handyman skills at the Kern Adult Literacy Council as they took part in the United Way of Kern County's Day of Caring. The day started with breakfast at Stramler Park and then it was off to the Kern Adult Literacy Council to help paint, clean windows and replace ceiling tiles.

Condors Droppings:

· The Condors annual Open House & Family Day at Centennial Garden will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Plenty of events are on tap for the whole family. Admission to the Open House is free with a donation of a non-perishable food item to the Golden Empire Gleaners. The Open House is also the first day that Season Tickets are available for pick-up by season ticket holders. The first public skate of the year is also planned from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Cost of the skate is $7.00 and $3.00 for skate rental, or bring your own.

· Sign up now for the fifth annual Condors Invitational Charity Golf Tournament presented by 1410 AM KERN, Baldwin-Georgenton Insurance Agency, and Chicago Title Company to benefit the Alliance Against Family Violence. The tournament will be held on Monday, September 30th at Rio Bravo Country Club. For more information contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825).

· Sign-up's are underway for the Junior Condors Hockey League and the Junior Condors Power Skating Camp. The JCHL is an instructional league for kids, ages 5 through 13, and will feature guest instruction by members of the Condors team. The Power Skating Camp runs September 23 through 25, and is designed to improve skating and conditioning. Call the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information.
