Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods and general manager Mike Fitzpatrick announced today the signing of left wing Darryl Campbell for the 2002-03 season. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.
Campbell, 25, played 70 games last season with the Arkansas RiverBlades of the East Coast Hockey League. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Strathroy, Ontario registered 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points and 32 penalty minutes.
"As a free agent, the Sea Wolves were my first choice. I enjoyed playing in Mississippi and I'm looking forward to suit up for the Sea Wolves," said Campbell. "I've been skating five days a week and doing a lot of work in the gym as well. With the offseason conditioning program, I've set a personal goal to score 20 goals this season."
"Darryl Campbell is a guy that Sea Wolves' Steffon Walby said was tough to play against," said Woods. "He'll bring a lot of grit and he's a good penalty killer too."
Campbell becomes the 11th player signed by Mississippi for the upcoming season. He joins forwards Steffon Walby, Dave Paradise, Cody Bowtell, Patrick Rochon, John Evangelista, Jim Baxter, Austin Miller, Ryan Clark, Blair Stayzer and Sean Matile.
Mississippi opens its seventh season as a member of the East Coast Hockey League on Saturday, October 12 at Baton Rouge. The home opener for the Sea Wolves is at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 against intrastate rival Jackson.
Parking is free for all home games and season ticket prices have been reduced by as much as $50 per seat. Don't wait, buy your season tickets now! For the best seats available, drop by the Sea Wolves hockey office at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum or call 228-275-WOLF (9653).
