
Condors Erase Three Deficits, But Fall In Overtime To Las Vegas,

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Bakersfield Condors (26-15-4-1, 57 points) fought back three times to tie the game, but ultimately fell 6-5 in overtime to the Las Vegas Wranglers (20-23-3-2, 45 points) on Friday night at Orleans Arena. F Matt Pope scored in his return to the Condors lineup.
The first period proved to be high-flying and high-scoring. Las Vegas took an early 2-0 lead in the game's opening 5:46 on goals by C Chris Neiszner and F Kyle Hagel, who scored while shorthanded. But the Condors fought back to even the score. F Mathieu Aubin one-timed a centering feed from C Maxime Macenauer by G Joel Gistedt at 7:06 of the first period. F Gino Guyer made a second effort to find Pope in front to even the score with 6:50 to play in the opening frame. The Wranglers went into the first intermission with a 12-7 lead in shots.
The Wranglers struck first in the second period, taking a 3-2 lead on D Jason Krischuck's goal at 7:58. Las Vegas went up 4-2 just 1:39 later on a goal by RW Alex Bourret. Aubin tallied his second goal of the game to cut it to a 4-3 advantage just a minute after Bourret's goal. RW Nick Kemp and Macenauer earned the assists. The Condors erased their second two-goal lead when C Adam Naglich pushed a loose puck over the goal line with just 57 seconds left in the middle frame. Bakersfield took 10 out of the last 11 shots in the second period to help tie the game after 40 minutes. Play tightended in the third period. However, Las Vegas was able to break through and take a 5-4 lead on the power play with 7:44 remaining in the third period on a goal by RW Mick Lawrence. D Eric Regan tied the game for the third time with a wrist shot from the point with 5:57 left in the third period. Bakersfield led in shots 36-31 after 60 minutes of play.
In the overtime period, the Wranglers took over, generating all nine shots in the extra frame, including the game-winner by D Josh Schwarz at 2:04.
NOTES FROM THE NEST: F Andrew Ianiero skated in his 190th straight game with the Condors, having played the entire 2007-08 and 2008-09 season, plus the first 46 games of this season... F Mathieu Aubin recorded his first two-goal game of the season since Nov. 21... F Matt Pope broke Condors rookie records in 2008-09 in assists (33) and points (63)... Three Stars of the Game - 1. ON THE DOCKET:
The Condors return home on Saturday to host Las Vegas for Youth Jersey Giveaway, presented by KGET-TV 17, La Preciosa 105.3 and McDonald's. The first 2,000 fans 12 and under will receive a Timo Pielmeier youth replica jersey.
