THE MATCHUP:
The Bakersfield Condors and Las Vegas Wranglers face off for the second night in a row and seventh time this season. The Wranglers edged the Condors 6-5 in overtime on Friday night, in a game that saw the Condors erase three deficits, including Vegas leads of 2-0 and 4-2. However, Las Vegas dominated in the overtime period, recording all nine shots, including the game-winner by D John Schwarz. F Mathieu Aubin registered his second two-goal game of the season, while F Matt Pope also scored in his return to the Condors lineup, after spending the entire season with Manitoba (AHL). C Adam Naglich and D Eric Regan also tallied for the Condors, who are winless in six (0-4-2) games. The Condors are 21-30-6 in 57 all-time games against Las Vegas.
CONDORS NOTES:
F Matt Pope last played for Bakersfield on Mar. 7, 2009 at Ontario. He finished the season with Binghamton and Manitoba in the AHL. He established new Condors rookie records in assists (33) and points (63) in 2008-09... F Mathieu Aubin's two-goal effort on Friday was his first since Nov. 21 vs. Alaska... Four players (Aubin, F Gino Guyer, C Maxime Macenauer and F Stephane Goulet) recorded two-point games in Friday's overtime loss to Las Vegas... F Andrew Ianiero and C Maxime Macenauer are both riding three-game point streaks. Ianiero has a goal and two assists during the streak, while Macenauer has recorded a goal and three assists... The Condors special teams have struggled of late. Bakersfield is just 4 for 42 (9.5%) on the power play over the past 10 games, and have surrendered 15 power play goals in the last six games, killing off 21 of 36 (58.3%) opportunities.
