January 13, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
DALY CITY, Calif. - Multi-point efforts from F Jacob Lagace (2g-0a) and C Nicholas Tremblay (1g-2a) helped the Bakersfield Condors (11-25-1-2, 25pts) to a perfect six-point weekend with a 4-2 victory over the San Francisco Bulls (13-19-1-4, 31pts) on Sunday afternoon at the Cow Palace. The Condors are now 3-0-0 since the National Hockey League lockout ended.
Condors G Scott Greenham picked up where he left off on Friday. making 14 saves in the scoreless opening period of play. The Condors fired 17 shots on Bulls netminder Taylor Nelson to no avail, with the best opportunity coming on an odd man rush with F Evan Trupp and C Parker Stanfield.
Bakersfield came out flying in the second period and struck quickly for two goals. First, at 58 seconds F Francis Verreault sprinted down the right-wing and beat Nelson to make it 1-0. Just 11 seconds later, F Jacob Lagace poked home a rebound to extend the lead to 2-0. With the Condors shorthanded three minutes later, C Nicholas Tremblay fired home a shorthanded tally from the low slot off a feed from D Erik Burgdoerfer, 4:34 into the period, and the Condors had a 3-0 advantage. The Bulls pulled one back when F Peter Sivak beat Greenham on a breakaway at 7:50 to cut the deficit to 3-1. Bakersfield was outshot 9-6.
The Bulls pulled within one as F Kris Belan snapped a shot off from the slot at 4:38 of the third period to make it 3-2 Bakersfield. However, that would be as close as the Condors would let the Bulls. Greenham made 17 third period stops and Lagace added an empty-netter late to seal a 3-2 win for the Condors and a perfect six-point weekend.
