Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Las Vegas Wranglers wrapped up a four-game series against the Utah Grizzlies tonight, winning 5-2 to take both road games of the weekend.
Utah drew first blood tonight in a first period where five-on-five hockey was rare, with 15 penalties being called between both teams in the opening 20 minutes. Grizzlies forward Riley Armstrong gave his team the 1-0 lead midway through the period, and a power play goal from defenseman Mark Isherwood 1:24 into the second gave Utah the 2-0 advantage. It only took 38 seconds for the Wranglers to respond, though, and an unassisted goal from center Chris Francis cut the Grizzlies' lead to 2-1.
Wranglers left wing Carlo Finucci, newly returned to the team earlier this week, knotted the game-tying goal in the last four minutes of the second. He followed up with a second goal 4:13 minutes into the third to give the Wranglers their first lead of the night, and just 46 seconds later, defenseman Channing Boe scored to suddenly put Las Vegas up 4-2. Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon held the Grizzlies off for the remainder of the game, and a final empty net goal from left wing Adam Hughesman secured the 5-2 comeback win for the team. In the victory, Fallon stopped 40 of 42 shots to earn top Three Star honors.
The Wranglers play the Ontario Reign in a road game on Wednesday, Jan. 16, before returning home on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 7:05 p.m. to face the Colorado Eagles. For that game, the team will wear specialty 10th "FANniversary" jerseys featuring photos of 10-year season ticket holders, and celebrate the milestone throughout the game. The jerseys, presented by Diamondback Land Surveying, will be auctioned during the game on the Orleans Arena concourse and proceeds will benefit Children's Hospital of Nevada at UMC.
Celebrating 10 seasons of Wranglers hockey this year, group events are available at all home games, including pre-game ice skating parties, private luxury suites, and rink-side catered party boxes. Groups of ten or more can sit together starting at $13 per ticket, and feature perks such as in-game group recognition and "buy one, get one free" Chuck-A-Puck vouchers. Take advantage of the best deals by calling the Wranglers front office at (702) 471-PUCK . The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at Orleans Arena, located next to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
