Condors Book Collection brings in 550 children's books

The Condors hosted the My First Library Book Drive on the plaza in front of Rabobank Arena last Wednesday, offering fans $1 admission for each children's book donated to the book collection. When the night was over, the Condors had received 550 books. The children's books collected from the drive will be given to local students in area schools in which the children are likely to not have any books of their own at home.

On Thursday, the Condors, alongside 107.9 KUZZ, spent the afternoon at Houchin Blood Bank encouraging people to donate blood. Blood donors who gave the gift of life during that time received a Condors shirt, met Condors F Bruce Graham, had the chance of winning great items from KUZZ and received $1 vouchers to the Condors March 25 game too!

Friday morning, Colonel Claw'd and Baby Cal attended Rafer Johnson Day at Rafer Johnson School, where disabled students in the Bakersfield City School District were able to compete in a special day of Olympic style events. Colonel and Cal met with the excited athletes and walked the track with them during the presentation of athletes and the lighting of the torch ceremonies.

Tuesday, March 24:

Tune in to KLLY 95.3 at 7:20 a.m. to hear Condors D Chris Kaufman as he discusses a busy week in Condorstown with games on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The Condors will hold a Media Roundtable at Tailgaters Sports Grill from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Condors speakers will include Head Coach Marty Raymond, Condors D Jay Langager and President Matthew Riley. Tailgaters is located at 900 Truxtun Ave #110. The roundtable is exclusive to members of the media who should RSVP to 324-PUCK (7825).

Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will be at Bessie Owens Intermediate School at 3 p.m. to challenge the students in the afterschool program to a game of noodle hockey. The Colonel, noodle hockey d-man, currently has 3 assists on the year with a plus 7 rating. Bessie Owens is located at 815 Eureka St.

Wednesday, March 25:

Condors mascots Colonel Claw'd and SlapShot will be at Houchin Blood Bank, located at5901 Truxtun Avenue from noon to 1 p.m. encouraging fans to donate blood. Blood donors will receive $1 admission to Wednesday night's game and will be entered into a drawing to win one of three great prizes: a team signed Condors jersey, the chance to sit in "the Best Seat in the House" during the game on March 25, and the opportunity to drop the ceremonial first puck at the Blood Drive Game.

The Condors take on the Victoria Salmon Kings for Blood Drive Night, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9. Blood donors from the month of March will enjoy $1 admission when presenting the Condors vouchers they received when donating blood at either Houchin location. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

Thursday, March 26:

Tune in to the Scott Cox Show on KERN Radio 1180 at 8 am to catch "the Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl discuss whatever random topic Cox and Bartl come up with, as well as Quick Change's guest appearance at the Condors game on Friday.

Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will visit Longfellow Elementary School's honor roll party at 2 p.m. The Colonel will bring the Condors inflatable slapshot and bounce house with him to party with students who made honor roll status. Longfellow is located at 12 Lincoln Street.

The Condors Coach's Show will air on ESPN Radio 1230 an hour later than normal, from 6 to 7 p.m. live from the Hungry Hunter at 3580 Rosedale Hwy. The Coach's Show will feature a Condors player and Head Coach Marty Raymond, and is hosted by the "Voice of the Condors," Kevin Bartl. Fans who attend the show are entered in the monthly drawing for a free Condors jersey.

Friday, March 27:

Tune in at 6:20 a.m. to see a Condors player (TBD) on KGET-TV 17 as he discusses the street hockey stick and puck set giveaway on Saturday in addition to the Condors playoff situation.

The Condors will take on the Victoria Salmon Kings for a night with Quick Change, sponsored by KERN 1180 AM and Digital Designs. A season-one finalist on America's Got Talent, Quick Change will perform their magical clothes changing dance during the intermissions. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

Saturday, March 28:

The Condors take on the Las Vegas Wranglers for Hockey Stick and Puck Giveaway Night. The first 2,000 fans, 12-and-under, will receive a street hockey set that includes two hockey sticks and a puck, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, HOT 94.1 and Carl's Jr. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

Monday, March 30:

The end-of-the-season Condors Kids Club Party with the Condors players will be held on Monday, March 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rollerama West, located at 7850 Brimhall Road. The party is open to Kids Club members and their parents to meet and skate with the Condors. Skate rental along with pizza and soda will be free to all the members of the coolest club in town.

Individual game tickets are on sale and may be purchased through the Rabobank Arena Box Office, which is open from 10am - 6pm Monday through Friday and 10am - 4pm on Saturday with extended hours on game days.
