Alaska Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS - The Alaska Aces have secured home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs, with the first two games of the best-of-seven series scheduled for Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11 at 7:15 p.m.

Alaska's opponent remains unknown at this point, though the choices have been narrowed to Utah, Victoria, or Phoenix. The Aces (42-22-3) can finish no worse than second in the West Division, and with wins in their final five games, can wrap up their fourth division title in the last five years. By winning three of four at Victoria over the weekend, Idaho looms as the last remaining threat to that title, but remains five points behind with two games in hand. The Steelheads finish their regular season with seven consecutive games at home, three against Ontario and four against Phoenix.

If Alaska's first round series goes to a Game Seven, that contest would be held at Sullivan Arena Wednesday, April 22 at 7:15 p.m. Game Six, if necessary, would be played in Anchorage on either Monday, April 20, or Tuesday, April 21, at 7:15 p.m. Playoff tickets for Games 'A' and 'B' (April 10-11) are expected to go on sale Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

Alaska's 3-1 win at Las Vegas Saturday marked its eighth in the last nine games overall. The Aces also have won four of their last five on the road and 12 of 14 overall. Meanwhile, the Wranglers lost 3-1 at Ontario Sunday and will play host to Alaska Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. AT and again Friday at 6:30 p.m. AT. Alaska returns to Phoenix for its final game of the two-week road trip next Saturday, March 28, at 6:00 p.m. AT. All three games will be broadcast live on KFQD AM 750, with Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to face-off.
