
Condors announce training camp schedule

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have announced the schedule for their 2008 Training Camp, which will start on Friday, Oct 3. Fans will get their first opportunity to see the team in action at the annual Open House & Family Day, Sunday, Oct. 5.
This year's training camp not only includes the rigorous practice and workout schedule common to every Condors camp, but also a practice at the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks, and three preseason games, including one home pre-season matchup against the rival Las Vegas Wranglers and road games in Las Vegas and Ontario. Below is a schedule of the team's practice times during this year's training camp:
Friday, Oct. 3, 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Honda Center in Anaheim)
Saturday, Oct. 4, 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Ice Sports Center)
Sunday, Oct. 5 (Open House) at Ice Sports Center from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Public skate with the team follows practice.)*
Monday, Oct. 6, 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (Ice Sports Center)*
Tuesday, Oct. 7, 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (Ice Sports Center)*
Wednesday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. (Rabobank Arena)

Monday, Oct. 13, 10 a.m. - Noon (Rabobank Arena)

* - open to the public
Open House & Family Day is this Sunday at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center from Noon - 3 p.m. The team will be on the ice until 1:30, and there will be a free public skate with the team starting approximately 2 p.m. Skate rentals are $3. Admission to the Open House is free with the donation of two (2) non-perishable food items.
Condors sign forward Michael Handza
The Condors have also announced the signing of F Michael Handza. The 24-year old Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, native was originally acquired by Bakersfield on Dec. 10, 2007 in a trade with the Wheeling Nailers, but could not join the team for personal reasons. He did not play the remainder of the season. Handza recorded three assists and 22 penalty minutes with the Nailers in just 19 games in 2007-08, leaving him as a rookie for this season.
