Blades add forward Nicholson

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today the team has signed forward Colin Nicholsno to a contract for the 2008-09 season.

Nicholson is another familiar face to Cameron, playing under him with the Texas Wildcatters for the past two seasons. The 25-year-old recently participated in training camp for the American Hockey League's Hershey Bears before getting assigned to the Everblades. Entering his third pro season, the 6-foot-1 forward finished of the 2007-08 campaign by registering 22 points (7g, 15a) in 48 regular season games with Texas, then chipped in one goal in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Wildcatters last season.

"Colin is an extremely versatile player." Cameron said. "He's a tremendous competitor with a strong work ethic. He's a good defensive forward that forechecks well, and he's the kind of player that I will be depending on to do the little things that matter."

Nicholson broke into the pro ranks in 2006-07 playing in 42 games with Texas notching 13 points and 21 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native competed at the collegiate level at Lake Superior State University from 2002-2006. During his four-year tenure with the Lakers, Nicholson totaled 47 points (25g, 22a) in 115 games.
