Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

*FARGO**, **N.D*. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks added Billy DeNet to their roster just before Monday's game against the Schaumburg Flyers. DeNet started the game as the designated hitter and batted in the nine spot.

The stop is the first of DeNet's professional career. Most recently he played for RedHawks coach Bucky Bergau at Concordia College in Moorhead. During his last season with the Cobbers, DeNet hit for a .418 average and was the first member of the team to be named to the All-Region First Team since current RedHawk Derek Dormanen earned the same honor in 2003.

DeNet was also the first member of the Cobbers to finish with a batting average over the .400 mark since Dormanen accomplished that feat in 2001. He also led the 2006 squad in stolen bases (6) and finished second in on-base percentage (.486), runs scored (27) and total bases.

At the end of the season, DeNet led the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) with a .485 batting average in league play. He finished second in the MIAC MVP voting race and was named the MIAC Player of the Week on May 8.
