Long Island Ducks News Release
(York, Penn., May 20, 2015) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 11-9 on Wednesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Santander Stadium.
Long Island took the early lead on Jon Griffin's two-out RBI double to left field in the first inning off of York starter Anthony Lerew. The Revolution responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame on a two-run homer to right by Eric Patterson and a solo home run to left by Andres Perez off of Ducks starter Mark Rogers.
Two more runs in the second and three in the third extended York's advantage to 8-1. Two-run homers by Patterson and Johan Limonta, along with a run-scoring double play ball, did the damage. However, Long Island answered back with a nine-run fourth inning to jump ahead 10-8. RBI singles by Reegie Corona, Cody Puckett, Griffin, Prentice Redman, and Erik Komatsu, along with a two-run base hit by Lew Ford and a two-run triple from Dan Lyons, highlighted the scoring.
Following a RBI single by Luis De La Cruz in the fourth, Griffin plated another run on a groundout to second in the fifth. From there on, the Ducks bullpen kept the Revs off the scoreboard, yielding just four hits and a walk over the final five innings.
Neither started factored into the decision. Rogers lasted just one inning, surrendering three runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout. Lerew pitched three and one-third innings, giving up six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four. Tommy Organ (1-0) collected the win with one inning of relief, allowing a run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Beau Vaughn (1-1) suffered the loss, yielding four runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning. Ryan Kussmaul earned his seventh save with a scoreless ninth.
Puckett and Jose Morales each had three hits to lead the Flock. Griffin, Corona and Bryan Sabatella each added two.
Long Island and York wrap up their three-game set on Thursday morning. Game time is slated for 11:00 a.m. from Santander Stadium. Right-hander Billy Buckner will make his debut for the Ducks against Revolution righty Matt Neil. Fans can follow all the action live on the Ducks' official YouTube channel.
