Four RBI Night For Alonso, Quality Start For Riordan

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 20, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (14-11) pounded out 11 hits en route to a 6-3 victory over the Somerset Patriots (17-8) at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, New Jersey in the second game of a day/night doubleheader. Bridgeport recorded ten or more hits in a game for the 12th time this season.

The 'Fish got on the board early in the top half of the first inning on a two-run double by John Alonso, scoring Sean Burroughs and Andres Rodriguez, and just five batters into the game it was 2-0 in favor of Bridgeport. The Bluefish would make it 3-0 in their favor in the top half of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Nick Van Stratten, scoring James Simmons, who doubled earlier in the frame. Alonso would add to the lead in the top of the ninth inning with a booming RBI double, scoring Burroughs, making it 6-3 in favor of the 'Fish.

Bridgeport Starting Pitcher Cory Riordan (1-0) was terrific, picking up his first victory of the season, tossing eight innings, allowing three runs on five hits, walking one and striking out five, while giving up a solo home run to Jonny Tucker. Somerset Starting Pitcher Lucas Irvine (1-3) was tagged with the loss, pitching six innings, surrendering five hits and three runs (one earned run), walking one and striking out two. Patrick Mincey pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out one batter for his first save of the season. Burroughs led the way with three hits for the Bluefish.

Bridgeport closes out the brief four-game road trip tomorrow night when they once again take on the Somerset Patriots at TD Bank Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The 'Fish are back home at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Friday, May 22nd when they host the Sugar Land Skeeters to open up a four game Memorial Day Weekend series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
