Columbus Clippers News Release
With the Buckeyes playing in the Final Four this weekend and the major league exhibition game this afternoon... here is an interesting Columbus-Washington connection.
After three stints with Washington, first baseman Fred Taylor retired to take the freshman basketball job at The Ohio State University. Promoted to head coach, Taylor led the Buckeyes to the National Championship in 1960 with a team that included Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek and Bobby Knight. While Taylor was the freshman coach, Ohio State had an All-American forward on the varsity squad, Frank Howard.
See you at The Coop this afternoon.
