SYRACUSE (NY) - The Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Ottawa Lynx 8-0 on Thursday at the Blue Jays complex in Dunedin, Florida.
Blue Jays starter AJ Burnett pitched seven scoreless innings for Syracuse allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out nine Ottawa batters. Blaine Neal and Jordan DeJong each struck out two Lynx working one scoreless inning to preserve the shutout.
John-Ford Griffin had two hits including a home run and drove home three. Adam Lind hit two doubles and Jason Phillips also collected two hits. Chad Mottola tripled and drove home two runs.
The Chiefs (9-4-1) travel to Tampa, Florida to take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, Friday at 1:00 PM at the Yankees complex.
