
Columbus Recalls Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre

Syracuse, NY (December 16, 2003) â The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled right wing Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre. The team also announced that Columbus has reached a buy-out agreement with center Espen Knutsen.
Grand-Pierre, 26, appeared in four games with Syracuse this season, tallying one assist and eight penalty minutes. In 15 games with Columbus this season, Grand-Pierre recorded 12 penalty minutes. In 228 career NHL games with Buffalo and Columbus, Grand-Pierre has tallied four goals, 11 assists and 271 penalty minutes. Grand-Pierre has appeared in 194 career AHL games with Rochester and Syracuse, recording 15 goals, 18 assists and 431 penalty minutes. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Grand-Pierre was acquired by Columbus from Buffalo with Matt Davidson, a fifth-round pick (Andreas Jamtin) in the 2000 Entry Draft and a fifth-round pick (Tyler Kolarik) in the 2001 Entry Draft for past considerations on June 23, 2000.
Knutsen, 31, appeared in two games with Syracuse this season, tallying one goal and one assists. In 14 games with Columbus this season, Knutsen recorded four assists. In 207 career NHL games with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Columbus, Knutsen has tallied 30 goals, 81 assists and 103 penalty minutes. The first Blue Jacket and first Norwegian-born player to be selected for the NHL All-Star game in 2001-02, Knutsen appeared in 188 games with Columbus, recording 27 goals, 81 assists and 97 penalty minutes in his four years with the club. A native of Oslo, Norway, Knutsen was acquired by Columbus from Anaheim for a fourth-round pick (Vladmir Korsunov) in 2001 Entry Draft.
The Crunch host Philadelphia on Friday, December 19 and St. John's on Saturday, December 20. Game time is 7:30 p.m. for both games.
