
Colts Open Camp on Broncos

San Angelo, TX---After splitting with Edinburg the Colts were looking to take game one and make a statement against Laredo. San Angelo was just three and five against the Broncos this season entering Tuesday night's game. The statement the Colts made was loud in an 11-3 game one win.
It began with a run in the first on a sac fly RBI by Josh Collazo to put San Angelo up 1-0. The score was tied at 1-1 when the Broncos receive a solo homerun by D.J. Dixon (3) in the top of the second. The Colts took back the lead in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by David Cardona to go back up 2-1. San Angelo added another run in bottom of the fifth on an RBI triple by Ronnie Gaines to make it 3-1. Laredo would tie it up in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Salvador Paniagua that drove in two to make it 3-3.
The Colts then exploded in the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back homeruns to begin the inning by Jason Crosland (19) to add to his league leading total and Landon Camp (16). It was Camp's fifth straight game with a homerun and eleventh homerun in the last twelve games. Three batters later Isaac Garcia (4) hit a two-run shot to put the Colts up 7-3. San Angelo added a pair in the seventh on an RBI single by Landon Camp followed by an RBI double by David Cardona and were in front 9-3. The Colts added another pair in the eighth to make it five straight innings with a run on an RBI triple by Mark Ramos, who extended his hitting streak to 18 games in his final at bat, and an RBI single by Ronnie Gaines to put San Angelo up 11-3 which would be the final.
Starter Ezequiel Astacio pitched well going six innings allowing just two earned runs while striking out nine. Tyler Blum in his second outing since joining the Colts was terrific, coming in with the bases loaded in the eighth and getting the Colts out of a bases loaded one jam on one pitch on an innings ending double play, and then retiring the side in order in the ninth.
On Wednesday the Colts and Broncos play game two of this four game set. San Angelo sends out righty Chandler Barnard (5-2, 3.41) against fellow right-hander Robert Roth (1-2, 5.73) for Laredo. Wednesday is Sherwin "Sure Win Wednesdays, if the Colts don't win every fan gets a free general admission ticket for the next Wednesday home game. Also on Wednesday the Colts will be having a youth clinic sponsored by Wal-Mart. It all begins with the Kemps pre-game show beginning at 6:50 with the first pitch set for 7:05 on 1260 KKSA.
