
Colts make draft day deal

Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts today announced they have acquired overage Czech forward Jakub Petruzalek from the Ottawa 67's in exchange for their first round pick (43rd overall) in today's CHL Import Draft.
Petruzalek, 20, finished second in OHL rookie scoring during the 2004-05 season with 23 goals and 40 assists through 59 games. Originally a first round pick (23rd overall) by the 67's in the 2004 CHL Import Draft, he was drafted by the New York Rangers in the ninth round (266th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Petruzalek finished second in 67's playoff scoring this season with eight goals and ten assists through 21 games.
"Jakub is an exciting player who can fill an offensive role. He is an exceptional play-maker and will help our powerplay with his offensive creativity and flare," stated Head Coach Marty Williamson.
With the Colts trading their first round pick in today's draft, they still have another selection in the second round at 101st overall.
