Barrie Colts News Release

Kody Clark's goal with just under five minutes to play sealed the victory for the Ottawa 67's over the Barrie Colts 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Barrie Colts would kick off their Thanksgiving long weekend with a road trip to Ottawa to take on the 67's for an afternoon affair in the Nations Capital.

This game had a feel as if the two teams had played each other about a handful of times already this season. Both teams battling hard and creating lots of scoring chances with great tempo.

The first two period were basically polar opposites. It was the Ottawa 67's carrying the play in the opening frame as they fired 22 shots at Maksim Zhukov who made a handful of big saves in his 3rd start of the season. They were able to put two behind the Russian net minder giving them a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. Barrie's lone goal in the frame came from Ben Hawerchuk who picked the top corner on a power play for his 4th goal of the season.

In the second period, it was the Colts who controlled the play from the drop of the puck. Just 1:35 into the period, Lucas Chiodo put home a pass from Ryan Suzuki to tie things up. The assist gave Suzuki his 13th point of the season, which leads the entire OHL. The goal was Chiodo's 5th of the campaign.

Despite Barrie outshooting Ottawa 15-4 in the period, the 67's were able to carry the lead into the final frame as Marco Rossi scored his 2nd of the game, restoring the one goal lead for the home team.

In the third period, Barrie would tie things up again as Matej Pekar worked is way in shorthanded and pulled off the one-handed goal for his 5th of the year.

The score would stay that way until Kody Clarks game winning goal to collect the victory for the home club.

The boys are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they head to Kingston to wrap up the weekend with a 2pm game against the Frontenacs. This is their first meeting since the Fronts sent the Colts home in six games in last years OHL 2nd round of the playoffs.
