Attack Triumph over Generals, Win 4-2 at Home

After a tough loss last night in London, the Attack were back on home ice tonight to face the Oshawa Generals and gain some momentum back with a much-needed win. The Bears kept their fans in their seats until the very last second with a victory over the Generals, 4-2.

The first period was a wild one right from the start.

Andrew MacLean made his first start of the season tonight as Mack Guzda was dressed as the back-up goalie. MacLean however did not see much action in his end of the rink in the first period as Owen Sound took control of the game.

Cade Robinson found the back of the net at 2:50 into the first period to record his first goal of the 2018-19 season and put the Bears up 1-0 early on. Robinson's goal was assisted by Nick Suzuki and Markus Phillips.

At 6:42, Aidan Dudas put his third goal of the season past Oshawa netminder Kyle Keyser, assisted by rookie right winger Kaleb Pearson.

Only 36 seconds later, rookie centreman Bryce Caruk found the back of the net at 7:18, assisted by his fellow rookies Griffin Wilson and Manuel Alberg, putting the Bears up 3-0 less than halfway into the first period.

Oshawa sent Owen Sound to their first powerplay of the game when Jack Studnicka was sent to the box for high sticking at 8:17.

Eleven seconds later, Oshawa left winger Eric Henderson landed a penalty for holding at 8:28 and the Attack are on the 2-man advantage for just shy of two minutes. Although the Bears maintained control, the Gens held them off and penalties ended with no scoring.

At 17:29, Owen Sound headed to another powerplay as Gens Giovanni Vallati is sent to the box for slashing on Nick Suzuki. Score remains the same.

Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal sat at 20 Attack, 8 Generals.

Oshawa pulled goaltender Kyle Keyser for the empty net 2:20 into the second period but their extra man advantage didn't last long as Owen Sound drew a penalty.

Aidan Dudas headed to the box for 4 minutes for high sticking at 2:32 and the Attack began a long penalty kill. Oshawa took advantage of their powerplay and Giovanni Vallati floats one past rookie netminder Andrew MacLean, making the score 3-1 at 3:41 into the second. Vallati's goal was assisted by Kyle MacLean and Danil Antropov.

Lyle headed to the box for holding at 13:00 to send Oshawa to their second powerplay of the game. Only 1 minute and 37 seconds later Suzuki land Robinson landed a penalty for boarding and tripping, respectively at 14:37.

Owen Sound holds the Gens off and made out of the two-man advantage penalty kill.

Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal for the second period were 5 for Owen Sound, 8 for Oshawa with the score sitting at 3-1 Attack.

The Owen Sound crowd was pumped as the third period began, but silence ensued after Nando Eggenberger sneaked one past MacLean at 1:42 into the period. Eggenberger's goal was assisted by left winger Kyle MacLean and defenceman Mitchell Brewer. Score was 3-2 with just over 18 minutes of play left in the game.

Oshawa headed on another powerplay as Attack's Cade Robinson landed a penalty for cross checking at 3:16. Owen Sound was able to kill the penalty and keep the lead.

Attack head to a much needed powerplay as the Gen's Mitchell Brewer landed a penalty for interference and 12:35 into the third. Owen Sound keeps control but is unable to find the back of the net.

With 1:21 left on the clock, veteran Kevin Hancock sniped one past Keyser to insure the Bears victory, sending the final score to 4-2 Attack. Hancock's goal was unassisted.

Attack win!

Rookie netminder Andrew MacLean stopped 25 shots on the night, earning him not only first star honours but also the Hatten Home Hardware Hardest Working Player of the game, voted by the fans! Oshawa Generals Kyle MacLean earned second star honours with his two assists of the night and Owen Sound's Cade Robinson earned the third star.

At the end of three, Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal were 35-27, in favour of Owen Sound.
